  Bringing over 12 years of experience of being a creative and professional Make-up artist and teacher, Bryan Tan has ¬set up Backstage Academy which aim is to offer quality-plus qualifications. His passion in makeup artistry and training makes him loves nothing better than sharing his industry knowledge and techniques with students and seeing satisfaction on their faces when they master a particular skill. He remains current on the latest trends and techniques specializing in hair and make-up skills ranging from beauty, body painting, hair cutting, hair designing, bridal, avante garde and special effects. Being a qualified Make-up artist and hairdresser has seen Bryan work on many local and international jobs. Bryan's work has also graced many TV programs, commercials, magazines, bridals, theaters, music videos, fashion shows and etc. One of Bryan's greatest accomplishments in his career was going to Middle East to be a hair consultant for Franck Provost and hair and Make-up artist for Bareface Modeling Agency. He has gained valuable overseas experience and unique insight which brings him to a wider perspective in the ever changing demands of the Fashion industry.

  Dean

  With more than two decades of experience in make-up and hair industry, Sara has a wide range of experience in make-up industry from being a judge in make-up competitions to an image consultant for major record companies and Director of make-up artists. Sara's passion for cosmetics, hair and fashion, can be seen through her knowledge and attention to detail. Sara is a true creative professional who strives for the success of not only within herself, but in the work of her fellow trainers and students. She has been working in the industry as a Make-up artist, specializing in fashion, editorial, body art, hair designing, avante garde and special effects in different parts of the world such as Taiwan, Australia, Singapore and China. With real industry experience, Sara believes in instilling within her students the value of dedication, hard work and the pursuit of excellence.

  Ken Lee

  Co-Founder / Instructor

  Ken Lee, co-founder of the academy has more than 15 years of experience in make-up and hair industry. Ken Lee is undoubtedly a professional Master Make-up Artist. As a Master Make-up Artist, he has the ability to bring the best face forward, highlighting beauty features and uniqueness. Ken's passion about make-up has yielded him to be one of the best instructors to pass on his make-up skills with hairstyling expertise to his students in order to make them successful make-up artists in the industry. Regardless of entertainment, theatrical, retail, bridal, special effects, fashion or special events, Ken Lee will provide his students with the essential skills and techniques to make each and every one of them a big success. He loves to inspire and support his students by sharing all his industry knowledge an experiences to them.

  Instructor (Part-time)

  Kenny Yee has equipped himself with all the knowledge and skills to help his students. Since the very beginning of Kenny's life, he has developed a love for makeup industry. Honing in on his passion to excel, he focused on further enhancing his makeup skills by taking advanced courses. He was acclaimed best in his class. His talents have been spotted by many industry leaders such as Mac, Shu-Uemura and Fabulous Tan, just to name a few and his work is in extreme demand. He was once the mentor for Miss Astro Chinese 2009, Belle Theng for private lesson personal makeup courses. Kenny Yee is definitely the perfect mentor to guide students about the industry and what it takes to be successful. His passion and dedication to his students is second to none, and it is seen in every class he takes and students are challenged creatively in all aspects of makeup.

Having worked in the industry for about 11 years has helped Shireen to gain better hold on her desire and introduce her students to latest trends and innovative methods of applying make-up along with a deep understanding of the industry. Her classes are all about awareness of innovative tools, introduction of beauty products, good knowledge of facial structures, expressions and skin tone, creativity as well as tones of humors that make every student asking for more. She is studded with adornments and decked up with make-up in a way that her looks and even what she feels about the day changes completely.
